Institute of Biochemistry
Research at
the Institute of Biochemistry focuses on membrane proteins involved in
bioenergetics
as well as transport.
Since every
cell and its organells are enclosed by membranes, a large variety of
different
proteins embedded in the lipid bilayer are needed to catalyze the
transfer of
substances, the charging of the membrane and the transduction of
signals. One
topic of our work is the NADH:ubiquinone oxidoreductase of the
mitochondrial
chain. The second topic are ABC transporters.
